Stockholm – Sweden’s leading region
Greater Stockholm is Sweden’s leading region and financial centre. Today, the region attracts people from other countries, visitors and investors. It ranks highly in terms of quality of life – public health is good and the level of education is high.
Stockholm County Council is one of Europe’s largest healthcare providers, offering everything from telephone advice about self-care to advanced specialist care at university hospitals.
Public transport in Stockholm County should be easily accessible, reliable and environmentally friendly. AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (Stockholm Public Transport, SL), Waxholmsbolaget and Färdtjänsten are responsible for transport services. The number of travellers rises each year.
The Stockholm region is expected to grow in the next few years, and its population could grow by 250,000 over the coming decade. The County Council plays an important part in the region’s development, and a number of major projects and investments are currently being carried out.
